Rudolph Hoekstra Buried Sunday

Rudolph Hoekstra, son of Klaas and Lucy Hoekstra, was born August 13, 1869 in Friesland, Netherlands. He was married to Winnie Tiemersma the 10th of June, 1893, and! the same year they left the Netherlands and came to the United States. The family lived in Chicago, 111., until 1907, when they moved to Orange City, la. March, 1914, they moved to a farm near Sanborn, where they farmed until 1923. In that year the Hoekstra family moved to Sheldon, returning to Sanborn in 1931.

About two years ago Mr. Hoekstra fractured his hip and was bedfast ever since. About two weeks ago he was taken to a home in Sheldon, where he passed away Wednesday, November 24, 1943, at the age of 74 years and three months.

He is survived by his wife and five children, Mick Hoekstra and Peter Hoekstra of Ogilvie, Minn.; Michael Hoekstra of Washington, D. C; Bessie, Mrs. Walter Dolfin, and Louis Hoekstra of Sheldon. One son, Louis, died in infancy.

The funeral services were ' held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and 1:30 at the Christian Reformed church (of which he was a member) with the Rev. Wm. Van Rees in charge. Burial was at the Roseland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: John Snip, Wm. Elgersma, M. Zonnefeld, Frank Hartog, Win. Vegter and Jake Zwagerman.
