Henry Linder passed away at Hand Hospital last Thursday (Nov 12) after an illness of several months.

Henry Linder was born May 20, 1860 at Dysart, Iowa, and passed away November 12, 1931, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 23 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Linder. His parents were born in Baden, Germany, and in 1856 they came to America and settled on a farm near Blairstown, Iowa. In 1874 they moved to Dysart.

At the age of 16, he was converted and joined the Evangelical church. On November 18, 1886, he was united in marriage with Caroline Lacher. They moved to Dickinson county, Iowa, where they lived two years and then came to O'Brien County, settling on a farm on mile north of Hartley. In the year of 1906, his devoted companion passed away, leaving seven children: Will, Lewis, Ben, Minnie, Bertha, Arthur, and Ervin. Ben passed away in 1919.

In 1908 he was married to Miss Lizzie Kesselring who proved to be a great help-mate and mother to the children. They moved to the town of Hartley in 1919 where they have since made their home. Mrs. Linder passed away at the home here May 1, 1931.

Mr. Linder was a member of the Evangelical church 55 years and held many of the different offices of the church. He served as class leader for 35 years and was always in his place at the church, taking an active part in all departments. He was also very generous of his means in supporting the church. He will be greatly missed in the church as well as in the community.

He leaves to mourn his loss four sons, Will and family, Lewis and family, Arthur and family and Ervin and family; and two daughts, Mrs. Warren Houston and family, and Mrs. Hobart Putnam and family. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, one brother, and three sisters: Will Linder of Hartley, Mrs. Ida Anderson of Burt, Iowa, Mrs. Martin Albright of Hartley and Mrs. Henry Hecht of Dysart, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with his pastor, Rev. G.W. Cramer in charge, assisted by Rev. W.C. Lang, superintendent of the Old People's Home of the Evangelical church at Cedar Falls, Iowa. It was Mr. Linder's request that Rev. Lang preach his funeral sermon from the words taken from Rev. 14:13.
