Funeral services were held Saturday morning, October 13, for Eugene Linder. Rev. Clair Kerns officiated at the services held at the Hartley United Methodist Church. Graveside services were conducted by Beacon Lodge #495 AF and AM with burial at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene Lewis Linder, the son of Lewis and Bertha Hoffman Linder, was born June 16, 1919 at Hartley, Iowa. He was educated in rural schools near his childhood home, graduated from Hartley High School and attended the University of Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Metcalf on October 14, 1939, at Moville, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Hartley. Gene had been in poor health and since 1978 was a resident of the Mann Nursing Wing.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Hartley and of Beacon Lodge 494 AF and AM at Hartley.

He passed away at the Mann Wing on October 19, 1984 at the age of 65. Preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Dr. Jean Linder Leistikow.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn, of Blue Earth, Minnesota; two daughters: Mrs Reginald (Marjorie) Larson of Appleton, Minnesota, and Mrs Boyd (Glenna) McGee of Peterson; five grandchildren, one brother, Dale, of Castro Valley, California, other relatives and friends
