Frederick Herman Scherzer, the son of Philip and Dena Loger Scherzer was born February 4, 1897 at Melvin, Iowa. He passed away October 22, 1974 at Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 77. He had also lived at Joplin, Missouri, from 1950 until 1953. Since 1953, he had been a resident of the Hartley Community.

He was united im marriage to Bernice Meelhause on July 25, 1926, at Spencer. To them were born three daughters: Vera, Ruth, and Lorraine.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, one grandson and his wife.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters; Mrs. Vera Munger and Mrs Gerald (Ruth) Fletcher, both of Omaha, Nebraska, and Mrs. Kenneth (Lorraine) Welch of Saint Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and his many friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Scherzer were held at the Baumgarten Funeral Home in Hartley on Firday, October 25. Rev. Bernard Sayler officiated.

Casketbearers were Him Hesse, Edward Peters, Martin Rachuy, Arnold Gruhn, Howard Guenther and Orville R. Taylor.

Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.
