Mace Eustis Kent, aged 74, son of Icabel Sargent Kent and George S. Kent, was born July 11, 1868 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the seventh son of a family of eight children, all of whom havve preceded him in death. His early years were spent in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and at the age of eight years, he moved with his family to Saint Paul, Minnesota.

In young manhood he went to Kendrick, Idaho, where he associated himself with the meat business. There he met and married Ethel M. Barker on August 24, 1899. The marriage was solemnized at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Clara Hutchinson. For several years they made their home in Kendrick, later moving to Centralia, Washington, where they lived for about twenty-five years.

In early manhood, Mr. Kent became a member of the First Baptist Church. During their married life, Mra. and Mrs. Kent lived in Seattle, Washington, and Mason City, Iowa, and moved to Sanborn in 1932 where he was employed in the garage of his brother-in-law, E.C. Barker until ill health forced him to retire.

Death came on September 24, 1942, at his home in Sanborn, bringing release from many years of poor health and toward the end, extreme suffering. He had fractured his hip on August 2, and was confined to his bed from that time; he was a patient in the Hull Hospital for more than six weeks, and was brought home on September 16, one week before his passing. Everything possible was done for him but he was too weak to rally.

His only suriving near relative is his devoted wife, Mrs. Ethel Kent.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon b the Rev. R.J. Rutt from the family home. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery.

Sanborn (Iowa) Pioneer), 1 Oct 1942, p1
