Viola M. (Wagner) Moore, the daughter of Henry E. and Bertha M. (Meyners) Wagner, was born at Sheldon, Iowa on July 17, 1908. She lived her youth near Sanborn and received her education there.

She was united in marriage to James Maust on February 24, 1926 at the Lutheran Church parsonage at Sanborn, Iowa. James died in February 1941. Viola was united in marriage to Francis Moore on December 12, 1945 at Sanborn, Iowa. They were engaged in farming until moving into the town of Sanborn in 1989. Viola entered Prairie View Home in Sanborn on November 20, 1997. She died at Northeast Iowa Health Center at Sheldon, Iowa on August 4, 1999 at the age of 91 years, 17 days.

She is survived by her husband, Francis, of Sanborn; one son and his wife, Dale and Renzella Maust of Liberty, Mo., a daughter-in-law, Barbara Maust of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; an infant son; one son, Merle; and two brothers, Lawrence and Ervin Wagner.

Viola was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sanborn and the Farm Bureau.

Viola's special interest was knitting.

Funeral services were held August 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sanborn with Pastor Kenneth Funke officiating.

Casket bearers were Douglas Maust, David Maust, Jeff Hughes and Michael Spears.

Congregational hymns were "Heaven is My Home," and "Come Ye Disconsolate." Marna Hakeman was organist.

Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
