Memorial services were held for
Charles Andrew Anderson on October
6, 1996 at the United Methodist
Church in Sutherland with Rev
Dean McPherson officiating. Arrangements
were by Warner Funeral
Home.

Charles Andrew Anderson, the
son of Carl and Edna Shultz Anderson,
was born on the family farm
near Albaton, Iowa, on October 20,
1922 Charlie's early education was
received in country schools, and he
later graduated from Whiting High
School. He entered the military in
June of 1945, and served with the
Army until November of 1946 A
portion of his enlistment was spent in
Germany.

Charlie married Phyllis Litka on
November 13. 1948 in St. Joseph.
Missouri. Throughout their marriage
they made their home in the Sutherland
community, where for a time
Charlie farmed in partnership with
Eddie and Millie Nelson southeast of
Sutherland. He then became involved
in trucking, and for over 45 years
owned and operated Anderson
Trucking and Shelling.

Charlie was a member of the
United Methodist Church in Sutherland
and served on the Board of Directors
of the Town and Country
Saddle Club for many years. He was
a member of Sutherland American
Legion Post 152. In his leisure time
he enjoyed spending time visiting
with family and friends and taking
care of his horses

Mr. Anderson passed away at the
Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital on
October 3, 1996 at the age of 73. He
was preceded m death by his parents,
two brothers and one sister.

Charlie is survived by his wife,
Phyllis; one son and his wife; Rodney
and Jackie Anderson of Parker,
Colorado; one daughter and her husband,
Micki and Bruce Haht of
Calumet; four grandchildren:
Rochelle and Tim Anderson of
Parker, Shawn and Jeff Mathison of
Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jess Haht of
Calumet. A close nephew survives,
Gary Lange, who made his home
with Charlie and Phyllis for many
years Charlie is also survived by one
sister and her husband. Mable and
Kendall Hunter of Sloan, Iowa, one
sister-in-law, Viola Anderson, one
brother and his wife, Clarence and
Marlene Anderson, all of Sioux City;
as well as special friends, Millie Nelson
and Keith and Lonna Jennings,
all of Guthrie Center, Iowa; other
relatives and friends.
