William Claire Troxel (1930-2005)

William Clair Troxel, 74, died on May 8, 2005. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Martin Access at 10:30 on May 21, 2005

He was born in Sheldon on Oct. 22,1930. Bill graduated from Aurelia High School in 1949

He joined the Army in 1951 and was a SGT. FC and served 2 tours of duty in Korea. He was stationed in Japan, Hawaii and Fort Carson, Colo.

After being discharged, he went to Iowa State and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry and went to work on the Coconino National Forest in Arizona for three years. He then went to the University of Arizona and obtained a Master's Degree in Range Management. He returned to work for the US Forest Service on the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico where he met and married his wife, Nakita.

His career took him to Arizona, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, Oregon, and New Mexico. He retired on January 3, 1986 after 30 years with the US Forest Service.

Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nakita; daughter Nyleen and her husband Keith Stowe all of Socorro, N.M.; sisters Glenda and her husband Dale Skadeland of Cherokee; Judy and her husband Marian Grigsby of Golden, Colo.; and a special-niece, Tern Skadeland of whom he was very proud.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Hazel Troxel and a baby brother, Robert.
