Mrs. Louisa Stoterau, nee Jipp, was born March 12, 1865 at Davenport, Iowa. There she grew to maidenhood and womanhood and became united in wedlock to Herman F. Stoterau February 13, 1886. This union was blessed with five children of which one daughter was called to rest previous to the mother.
Having resided in Scott county for 17 years the family came to Hartley in 1903 and made their home on a farm three miles north of town. When, five years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Stoterau decided to retire, they came to Hartley and have resided here ever since.
Ten days ago Mrs Stoterau took seriously ill and was called to rest on Sunday morning, March 6th, having attained the age of 55 years, 11 months and 24 days.
A loyal wife, an affectionate mother and sister, a respected neighbor, the departed leaves to survive her, her aged father, Mr. Fred Jipp; her husband, Mr. Herman F Stoterau; four children, Mrs. Alvina Bruegmann, Mr. Louis Stoterau, Mrs. Minnie Brandt and Mr. Edward Stoterau; four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Fred Hein, Mrs. Fred Wunder, Mr. Herman Jipp of Hartley, Mrs. Henry Mordhorst of Denison, Mrs. Fred Meyer and Mrs. Henry Jipp of New Liberty, Iowa; two grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday noon at 12:30 at the former home of the departed, a large number of friends being present to pay their last respects to the memory of the departed. Rev. Albrecht of Trinity Ev. church officiated.
