Lois Lorraine Tifft, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Jellema) Maassen, was born near Sheldon, IA on April 25, 1936. Her childhood years were spent in the Sheldon area and she graduated from Sheldon High School in 1954.

On September 9, 1955 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Tifft at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon and to this union four children were born. The couple resided in Sanborn where she did various jobs over the years including working at the Pike Cafe, Creamery and Prairie View Home. Lawrence died on July 28, 2006. Lois continued to live at home in Sanborn.

She died on April 28,2010 at the age of 74 years, three days at Sanford Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

She was a member of First Reformed Church where she was a member of the church ladies' bible study group. She enjoyed making calendars, helping at Prairie View and having coffee with her lady friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very precious to her and she always cherished the time spent with them.

She is survived by her children: Larry Tifft; Lori (Randy) Roder; Lyle (Sherry); and L.D.; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Esther (Myron) Meyer of Archer, Helen (Harold) Van Grouw of Redlands, CA, and Wilma David of Penny's Farm, FL, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Lawrence, a sister, Margaret Good, and a brother-in-law, Manuel David.

Memorial services were held May 3 at First Reformed Church in Sanborn with Rev. Gary Hegstad officiating. Casket bearers were Chad DeMey, Tyler Tifft, Travis Tifft, Joshua Meyer, Kyle Tifft and Kelvin Tifft. Congregational hymns were "In the Garden," and "His Eye is on the Spar­row." and a CD, "I Can Only Imagine* was played. Arlene Dykstra was organ­ist.

Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
