Vallata Weiss was born on a farm north of Sutherland, October 30, 1891 and passed away at her home September 28, at the age of 63 years, ten months and 28 days. Services-were held from the St. Anthony's Church at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning, October 3rd. Father Koenig was in charge. Interment was in Calvary cemetery in Sutherland.

She was united in marriage to Nicholas Betz, September 6, 1911 and they made their home north of Sutherland for several years. Later, they moved to a farm three miles east of Primghar, and lived there until moving into town.

Surviving are seven children. Mrs. Henry (Dora) Hilbert of Primghar; Mrs. Walter (Maybelle) Riedemann, Verndale, Minn., Robert of Fulda, Minn; Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Martens, Ashton; Mrs. Roy (Arlene) Krueger, Melvin; Mrs. Don (Eilene) Benz, Sibley; Dick of Cherokee, and 22 grandchildren. Two sisters Ida Weiss, Primghar and Mrs. Carl Fischer, Ogden, Utah. Two brothers, Armond and Alfred Weiss, Sanborn.

Relatives and friends attending from a distance were; Mrs. Max Fehr, and daughter of Braidwood, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Mike Haas, Madison, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fischer, Ogden, Utah; Frank and Mike Betz, Avoca, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Otto Clack, Worthington, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Haas. Beresford, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Clair Kopp, Worthington, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Betz, Avoca, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Lester Weiss, Reiabeck, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wiersma and Ann Hodapp and, Mr. and Mrs. Bernhard Wiersma, Allendorf, Harry S.
