Mrs. John Innes, 89, of Sutherland, Died Thursday, July 26 at a hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Belva Elsa Innes, the daughter of James and Lena Mueller Dayton, was born June 1,1890 at Gaylord, Minn. She came with her parents to O'Brien County and graduated from Paullina High School in 1909. She attended the Minneapolis School of Music and for a time taught rural school and gave private music lessons.

She was united in marriage to John C. Innes at Sioux City, Iowa on June 10, 1914. After their marriage they lived at Tyndall, S.D., Chowchilla, Calif., Madison, S.D. before moving to the family farm near Sutherland in 1930.

Mr. Innes passed away in 1947 and Belva moved into town. She passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn, on July 26, 1979 at the age of 89.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were her parents, two sisters and one daughter, Myrne Druyor. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Alcene) Peterson of Sutherland, and two grandchildren, Hollis Peterson of Sutherland and Nancy Stephens of Platka, Fla.; other relatives and friends.

Services were held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at a funeral home in Sutherland. The Rev. A.E. Goldhorn officiated. Burial was in the Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland. Pallbearers were Harry Jalas, Silas Steele, Richard Sauer, Clarence Bandholz, Ronald Johnson and Bob Porter and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Anderson were in charge of the flowers.
