Larry A. Jorgensen, 57, of rural Marcus, Iowa passed away suddenly on May 12, 2010 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. Rev. Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Monday. The Earnest - Johnson Funeral Home of Marcus is assisting Larry’s family with funeral arrangements.

Larry Allen Jorgensen was born on August 31, 1952 in Le Mars, Iowa, one of five children born to Glen and Helen (Mertens) Jorgensen. He was baptized on September 19, 1952 and confirmed on April 3, 1966 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa Larry attended grade school at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown and later graduated from Paullina High School in 1970. He continued his education at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa where he majored in air conditioning and refrigeration.

On November 24, 1972 Larry and Debra Koester were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. They made their home on a farm west of Paullina. In December of 1975 Larry and Deb moved to a farm near Cleghorn, Iowa. They continued to farm near Cleghorn until they moved to their present home southwest of Marcus in March of 1983. Along with farming, Larry was a seed corn salesman for Golden Harvest Seeds, did custom round baling, and raised stock cattle.

Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus where he served as an Elder, Financial Secretary, Trustee and sang in the Choir. He enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, and golfing. Larry was an avid sports fan and followed the Twins, Hawkeyes and the Vikings. Most of all he loved playing and caring for his granddaughters.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Deb of rural Marcus, IA; three sons Mark of Cherokee, IA, Kyle and his wife Destiny of Cherokee, IA, and Tyler and his wife Ashley of Sheldon, IA; two granddaughters Madison and Mariah; his parents Glen and Helen of Paullina, IA; sisters Cindy (Barry) Whitehill of Grundy Center, IA, and Linda (Rich) Ratka of Hutchinson, MN; brothers Jerry (Dawn) of Orange City, IA, and Craig (Amy) of Jackson, MN; father and mother-in-law Weber and Joan Koester of Paullina, IA; sisters-in-law Pam Laughery of Greenfield, IA, Tracey (Tom) Feldotto of Urbandale, IA, Cindy (Jay) Griebel of Columbia, MO, Janey (Mike) Brooner of Ankeny, IA, and Cynthia Rubenstein of Silver Spring, MD; brothers-in-law Gary (Peg) Koester of Paullina, IA, Dale (Kathy) Polson of Ankeny, IA and Eric (Carol) Polson of Minneapolis, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law JoAnne Koester, and a niece Kelly Laughery.
