Albert Harold "Jack" Freeman, the son of Joseph and Jane (Griffin) Freeman, was born May 28, 1911 in LeRoy, Kansas. He attended country school in Kansas.

On October 18, 1930, he was united in marriage to Bessie Wilson in Lyndon, Kansas. After their marriage the couple settled in the Burlington, Kansas area until 1937, when they moved to Cherokee, Iowa, where Jack was involved in farming. The couple moved to Primghar in 1957. Jack was employed at Norman Brothers Ford as a mechanic; he also worked as a carpenter and painter. After the couple's retirement they lived in Primghar.

His wife preceded him in death on September 28, 1994 in Primghar. Jack remained in the family home until entering the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley in September 2001.

He passed away at the. Health Center on Friday, December 3,2004, reaching the age of 93 years, six months and five days.

Jack enjoyed nature, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, watching sports and bowling, and he was a longtime New York Yankees fan. Spending time, with his family was important to Jack, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jack leaves to cherish his memories four daughters: Gala F. DeGooyer of Arvada, Colorado, Peggy L. and her husband, Jerry Carstens of Cherokee, Iowa, Patty and her husband, Carl Puhrmann of Hartley, Iowa, Betty S. and her husband, Mickey Wilson of Milford, Iowa; a son and his wife, Joseph and Kathleen Freeman of Newton, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: June Heffron of Burlington, Kansas and Geraldine Beall in California; three brothers: Milton, Calvin and Melvin Freeman, all in Burlington, Kansas; also other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons-in-law: Harlan DeGooyer and Lyle Cougill; two sisters, Nina Rohr and Betty Gifford; and two brothers, Eli and Milo Freeman.

Graveside service for Albert H. "Jack" Freeman was held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2004, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Primghar, Iowa. Rev. Jeffrey Filkins officiated. Casket bearers were Jerry Freeman, Randall Puhrmann, Keith Wilson, Shellee Luchtel, Daniel Cougill and David Cougilt. Honorary casket bearers were Alan DeGooyer, John DeGooyer, Tanya Harencak, Cheryl Bresnahan, Carol Hobbs, Julie Boyd, June Gorsuch, Jeffery Freeman, Robert Cougill and Jim Cougill. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Primghar. Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
