Isabel McNeil [sic], daughter of James and Louise McNeil, was born in Sanborn, Iowa, on November 7, 1896. She lived her youth, attended elementary school and graduated from the Sanborn High School in the class of 1914. She served as a librarian in Sanborn for a number of years.

She was united in marriage to Roy Penning of Sanborn, Iowa, in 1926 After their marriage they lived in Riceville, Iowa, until 1937 when they moved to Sanborn, Iowa They entered the Prairie View Home at Sanborn, Iowa, on March 12, 1970

Her husband, Roy, preceded her in death on November 15, 1976, and she continued to make her home at Prairie View until the time of her death on April 28, 1977 at the age of 80 years, five months and 21 days.

She is survived by one stepson, Edwin Penning, of Summitville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; and one sister, Irene. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Sanborn, Iowa.

Funeral services were held May 2 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sanborn Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Koksma officiating. Casket bearers were Robert Lowery, Orion Thomas, Levoy Thomas, Franklin Frohwein, Howard Postma and Wilmer Van Engen. Mrs. Gene Van Veldhuizen and Mrs. Ivan Van Veldhuizen sang two numbers, "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross", accompanied by Mrs. Lucille Van Veldhuizen. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home Service in charge.
