Sanborn Rites for Julius H. Marquardt, Former Resident

Julius Herman Marquardt, 76, of Los Angeles, Calif., a former resident of this community, died Saturday at the home of his son, Edward Marquardt, at Chokio, Minn., He had been in failing health for the past year.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8:30 at Zion Lutheran church in Sanborn. The pastor, Rev. Daib, will conduct the Sanborn rites.

Pallbearers will be Harry Peterson, Nick Peterson, Wm. Steuck, Simon Brandt, William Brandt and William Guse. Interment will take place in Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley.

Mr. Marquardt was born in West Prussia Germany, May 23, 1875. At the age of nine years he came to the United States. He spent the next nine years of his life at Sanborn, and then moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where he lived for 14 years. He had located in Center township near Primghar after leaving Minneapolis and remained here until 1941 when he moved to Omaha, Nebr. For the past year he had made his home at Lost Angeles, Calif.

Mr. Marquardt was married to Alvina Steuck at Sanborn on Jan 3,1899. She and two children, Edward of Chokio, and Elsie (Mrs. Walter Hartwig), of Los Angeles, survive. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister and one brother. One son, Irvin, preceded him in death.
