MRS. JOHN KLEINJAN

Mrs. John Kleinjan passed away early Thursday, March 18, 1948 at her home here after an illness of two weeks. Although not in the best of health she had seemed fairly well recently until a few weeks ago and after becoming bedfast failed rapidly. She was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Marie Goodell, who is a trained nurse, assisted by another daughter, Janet, who made her home with her mother.

Theresa Wynia was born April 1, 1878 at LeMars, Iowa to Rev. John and Louise Stoffels Wynia. The family later moved to South Dakota. It was while they were residing at Springfield, her mother passed away, and Theresa kept house for her father, who was a Presbyterian minister, until his death. They had come to the small town of Wallace, in Dickinson County, Iowa, and he was serving a church there at the time of his death.

The next year, on April 21, 1901, she was united in marriage to John Kleinjan in Dickinson County. They moved to O'Brien County 35 years ago and have lived in the Sanborn community since 1927. Mr. Kleinjan passed away May 25, 1947, less than a year ago. Mrs. Kleinjan was a quiet woman, devoted to her home and family and she sadly missed her partner of so many years.

Surviving are her four children: Marie, Mrs. R.T. Goodell, of Omaha, Nebr.; Janet, of Sanborn; Theresa, Mrs. Roy Ford, of Laurens; and John Kleinjan, Jr., of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Jeane and Raymond Ford and Laura Goodell; one brother, Ulyssis J. Wynia, St. Louis. Mo., and an aunt, Mrs Lou Polsma, Springfield, S.D.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the family home and at 2 in the First Reformed church by the Rev. J.H. Straks. Musical selections were, "Shall we Meet" and "Going down to Valley" sung by Mrs. John Boerhave, Mrs. Walter Close, Kenneth Kuyper and Conrad Prins with Mrs. Gerrit Diekevers as accompanist.

Casketbearers were Jerry Scheerhoorn, Sr., Pete Prince, John Prins, Wm. Faas, Dick Vander Woude and John Mulder. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery.
