JOHN DAVID MOHR

John David Mohr. the son of Henry and Kathryn Frahm Mohr, was born Oct. 1, 1891 at Perry, Iowa. He passed into eternal rest at his home in Melvin, Iowa, on Nov. 23, 1964. at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 22 days. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 8, 1906. He attended the parochial schools at Ogden, near his childhood home. In 1907 the family moved to Osceola County, and he had resided here since that time. He farmed in the area until retiring in 1959, at which time he and his wife moved to Melvin.

His marriage to Ida H. Mielke took place at May City, Iowa, on Nov. 25, 1915. To them were born two children, Kenneth and Elsie.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Christina Lorch, Mrs. Elsie Heikens, and an infant, Catherine; and three brothers, Henry, Charles, and Otto.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ida; his son and daughterin-law. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mohr of Hartley; his daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Derald Schroeder of Rochester, Minn.; four grandsons, Gregory and Jerry Mohr and Robert and Michael Schroeder; one brother. Walter H. Mohr of Valley City, No. Dak.; five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Mielke, Mary (Mrs. Fred Miller), and Mrs. Martha Hazlett, all of Hartley, Mrs. Ann Young of Monticello, Iowa, and Lydia (Mrs. Henry Bartoch) of Alexandria, Minn.; many nieces and nephews other relatives, and a great many friends.

Services were held Friday, Nov. 27, from the American Lutheran Church of Melvin with Rev. G. RWoodrich officiating. Pallbearers were Fred Pohlmann, Otto Klatt, George Year, Dr. C. J Primising, Richard Buss and Harold Juber. Burial was made in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley with the Baumgarten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
