Services Held Monday For Frank Leonard

Frank Leonard, 67, well-known resident of this community, passed away at Sutherland, Thursday, June 10. Having suffered a heart attack three months ago, he had bee in ill health since that time and succumbed to a sudden attack. Services were held in the Methodist church at Sutherland, Monday, June 14, with Rev. Geo. Osborn and Rev. L. W. Rowse in charge. Interment was in Waterman cemetery with Henry Ramsey, Bert Gable, George Halstrom, Robert Lemke, Will Stearns and Marion Crosser as pallbearers.

Frank Leonard

Frank Leslie Leonard, the son of Henry and Anna Clark Leonard, was born on March 25, 1881, at Blairstown, Iowa. He passed into eternal rest on June 10, 1948, at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 16 days.

Moving to this community 49 years ago, Frank was engaged in farming and business here until May of 1947. He has lived in town since that time, too, thus keeping Sutherland his home.

He was united in marriage on July 14, 1907 at Sutherland to Emily Duff. To them were born 2 children: Sam, who now resides on a farm near Primghar, and Gretchen (Mrs. Sylvan Morris) of Spencer. Also left to mourn his sudden passing are 14 grandchildren, one brother, Cecil, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. C. J. Reed of Upton, Wyoming, and another brother Tom of Davenport, Iowa.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in March of 1947. Having suffered a heart attack three months ago, he had been in ill health since that time, and succumbed to a sudden attack on Thursday morning, June 10th.

His many friends, who affectionately called him "Shorty" will miss him greatly, for he was always such a cheery and friendly person, liked by all who knew him.
