Funeral services for Joe H. Isabel, 78, West Liberty, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997 at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, with burial in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.

Mr. Isabel died suddenly Oct. 6 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City.

The son of Asa and Pearl Cook Isabel, he was born Jan. 17, 1919 in Ramsey, Ill.

Mr. Isabel farmed southwest of West Liberty before retiring.

He was a 50 year member of the Moose Lodge in Muscatine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.

Mr. Isabel is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lela Isabel, Atalissa; 5 nieces, Joyce (Mrs. Gerald) Wilson, Atalissa; Barb (Mrs. Jerry) Wood, Rochester; Betty (Mrs. Gerald) Holt, Indianola; Cathy Isabel, Rochester; and Jan Isabel, Rochester; and a nephew, Mike Rummells and wife Sandy, Atalissa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Ralph and Ray.
