Page 1Another of the old settlers of Muscatine county passed away last night when Joseph Nelson breathed his last at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Marion Jones of East Eighth street. Mr. Nelson was born in Ohio in 1824 and came to Conesville in 1854. Here he was one of the prosperous and substantial farmers of the neighborhood for many years. Three years ago he was stricken with paralysis and since that time he has resided with his daughter, his wife having died in '87. Thursday he was again attacked with paralysis and did not rally.
Four children survive him, Mrs. F. M. Jones of Muscatine, Mrs. H. V. McKee, of Greeley, Col., Mrs. Charles Miskey, of Nevada, Mo. and Austin Nelson, of Conesville, Iowa. Funeral services at the residence at 8:30 a, m, Wednesday. Interment in the Brockway cemetery at Conesville at 2 p. m. - Muscatine journal.
