Funeral services for Arline Askam, 76, West Liberty, were held Sept. 2, 1997 at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, with burial in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.

Mrs. Askam died suddenly Aug. 29 at her home in West Liberty.

The daughter of Adam and Alma Mietz Block, she was born Oct. 11, 1921 in Muscatine. She married Donald Askam in October 1941.

The couple farmed south of West Liberty for many years. They were active with the Muscatine County fair for several years.

Mrs. Askam was a member of the Cedar Valley United Methodist church.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Doreen and husband Tom DeVore, Harrisonburg, Va.; and Annette Maas, Lindale, Texas; a son, Dennis and wife Judy Askam, Moline, Ill.; special friends Neil Conkilin, Erma Riddle and Phyllis Elder and 2 sisters-in-law, Doris McCann and Rita Herrold. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband in 1987, a brother and 3 sisters.
