Funeral services for C. Dwight "Ossie" Carter, 72, Fulton, N.Y. and formerly of West Liberty, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997 at St. Joseph Catholic church, West Liberty, with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 3 at Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, with a wake service at 5 p.m.

Mr. Carter died Aug. 30 at A.L. Lee Memorial hospital in Fulton, N.Y., following a sudden illness.

He was born Dec. 1, 1924 in West Liberty. He married Phyllis McCabe in 1945 in West Liberty. She died in 1984. He married Dorothy Scott in 1991 in Fulton.

Mr. Carter was a consultant in the aluminum business all of his life, working for Alcoa Davenport Works; AlCan, Oswego, N.Y.; Alumax, Morris, Ill.; and Kabert Industries. He was general manager of Saldot Corp, Syracuse, N.Y., from 1987 to 1991, when he retired.

He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in England and France, until 1945.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, a daughter, Pamela Davis, Milwaukee, Wis.; 4 sons, Bruce, Charlotte, N.C.; Brian, Concord, N.H.; Kevin, New Lennox, Ill.; and Dr. Stephen, Morris, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and a brother, Dr. Glenn Carter, West Liberty.

Memorial may be made to the West Liberty Library Building Fund.
