Funeral services for Michael L. Simmering, 44, Durant, were held Aug. 7, 1997 at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with the Rev. Scott Stapleton officiating. Burial was in the Sharon Hill cemetery.

Mr. Simmering died Aug. 5, at his home in Durant.

The son of Marion and Hazel Raymond, he was born May 4, 1953 in Washington. He attended Muscatine high school. He married Sherri L. Shoppa on April 5, 1996 in Muscatine.

Mr. Simmering was a laborer and lead man at Russelloy Foundry in Durant.

He is survived his wife; 3 stepchildren, Charity (Mrs. Chris) Wacker, Muscatine; Nathan Richter, Stockton; and Joe Richter, Durant; his parents in Muscatine; 2 brothers, Charles and LuAnn Simmering, Wilton; and Marvin and Nancy Raymond, Muscatine; and 2 sisters, Tammy Powell, Wilton and Terry Raymond, Minnesota.
