Larry Kimsey, 25, West Liberty, was killed about 2 a.m. May 30 by a hit-and-run vehicle about 2 miles south of the West Liberty I-80 Interchange on a county blacktop road.

Cedar county authorities say Kimsey was dead at the scene after he apparently was struck by an unknown vehicle. He was last seen walking along the highway prior to the accident, said the report.

The accident was investigated by Iowa State Trooper Tim Newton of the Iowa Highway Patrol and the Cedar county sheriff's office. He is the second Cedar county traffic fatality this year.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Roy Shaughnessey at the Snider Funeral home in West Liberty at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.

A Vietnam veteran and member of the American Legion, Kimsey was born in Duluth, Minn. Jan. 6, 1947 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Linda Boder Kimsey, West Liberty. He married Gloria May Burkhart in Waverly Aug. 12, 1969.

Mr. Kimsey was employed with his father at the Kimsey Body Shop in West Liberty.

Surviving are his parents, his wife, West Liberty; 3 sisters, Claudia, Iowa City; Gloria, West Liberty, and Marlene, Hills, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kimsey, Sr., New Virginia.
