Robert C. Wessels

Funeral services for Robert C. Wessels, 32, who died Tuesday morning at Mercy hospital, Davenport, will be conducted at 2:00 p. m. at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals. Mr. Wessels, a lockman at Lock and Dam No. 15, Rock Island, was stricken with a heart attack while at work Tuesday morning. His home was 315 Cedar St., Muscatine. He was born Jan. 18, 1934, at Muscatine, the son of Edward and Edetta Gerth Wessels. He married Renata Potter, Sept. 12, 1962, at Princeton, Ill. She survives him. Also surviving are three step-sons, Michael R. Haney, Marc R. Haney and Lee S. Haney, all of Muscatine; his father, Edward Wessel, Austin, Minn; his mother, Mrs. Edetta Honts, Muscatine; and both the paternal and maternal grandmothers, Mrs. Clara Wells and Mrs. Katherine Honts, both of Muscatine; five brothers, Donald Schmelzer, Eldridge, Iowa, Gerald Schmelzer, California, Michael Honts, California, John E. Honts, California, and David Honts, Muscatine; three sisters, Mrs. Susan K. Brockert, Muscatine, Mrs. Carol Newton, Muscatine, and Mrs. Linda I. Frey, Muscatine. Friends may begin calling at the Fairbanks Home after 10:00 a. m. Thursday. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery with military rites conducted at graveside.
