Final rites for Charles E. Mackey, 60, West Liberty banker, were held at West Liberty March 12, with burial in Oak Ridge cemetery at West Liberty.

Mr. Mackey died of a heart attack while driving his car in Muscatine March 9.

The son of Walter and Rozetta Nichols Mackey, he was born at Downey, Aug. 27, 1910. He married Loletta Branson at West Liberty June 5, 1931 where he has worked at the West Liberty State bank for 43 years and was the assistant vice-president at the time of his death.

A member of the West Liberty Presbyterian church, he served in the navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was treasurer of the West Liberty Community school district, a member of the West Liberty Chamber of Commerce and of the Muscatine County Bankers association.

He is survived by his wife; 3 sisters, Mrs. Willard (Helen) Rice, Nichols; Mrs. Kenneth (Florence) Deming, Iowa City, and Mrs. Raymond (Ethel) Thompson, Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were a brother and a sister.
