Cecil M. Calvert, 91, of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Lutheran Living Senior Campus. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Calvary Church in Muscatine. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the church. Burial will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of Cecil. Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine are caring for the family. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Cecil was born May 21, 1931 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Vincent and Hattie Mae (McGowan) Calvert. He graduated from Muscatine High School. Cecil was united in marriage to Maxine G. Hintermeister on August 15, 1951 in Iowa City, Iowa. The couple was married for 62 ½ years.

Cecil owned and operated Calvert DX until 1964. He worked for GPC and later became an insurance agent, working for John Hancock Mutual Life for over 20 years. After retirement, Cecil worked as a greeter at Hy-Vee for over 20 years and was a host for the Button Factory Restaurant. He was an avid Cubs fan and played fast pitch softball into his 60’s. He enjoyed pheasant and squirrel hunting, camping and working on the farm. Cecil loved karaoke and trips to the casino and Village Inn with his wife. He was the official waver on Houser Street.

Cecil will be deeply missed by his children: Pam (Rich) Thompson, Maynard (Debbie) Calvert, Clarence Guy (Janice) Calvert, Robert (Maggie) Calvert, Charles (Tammy) Calvert, Kimberly Calvert, Cecil Calvert, Christopher Calvert, Michael (Tracy) Calvert, Michell (Greg) Beik, and Maegan (Brian) Trego; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Maxine Toussaint, Dorothy Frans and Ruth Fitchner; many nieces and nephews; and life-long friends, the Cordwell and DeFosse families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2014; great-grandson, Michael Bosten; and siblings: Lyle, Virgil, Donald and Kenny Calvert and Vivian Wonderlich.
