Late rites for Floyd H. (Frosty) DeForest, 67, secretary of the West Liberty Fair association for 11 years, were held at the West Liberty United Methodist church Jan. 19. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mr. DeForest died Jan. 16 following a heart attack while driving his car on a Cedar county road near Downey.

Mr. DeForest was born May 24, 1903, in Cedar county, the son of Edward and Edith DeForest. A life resident of the West Liberty area, he was married to Bess Lindle at West Liberty, May 29, 1923.

Mr. DeForest was a member of the board of directors of the Assocation of Iowa Fairs--a group of which he was president in 1966. He was named fair "Man of the Year" last month at the annual meeting of fair managers and fair boards of directors of Iowa.

He served as mayor of West Liberty 1947-1950, was a city councilman for a number of years and once served as secretary to the West Liberty Chamber of Commerce and a justice of the peace. He currently was on the Muscatine County Zoning Board.

Earlier he farmed near West Liberty.

After moving to town he managed the West Liberty Grain and Feed Co., a post from which he retired several years ago.

Surviving are his widow; 2 daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Betty) Elder, Columbus, Wis., and Mrs. Edgar (Edith Mae) Hildebrand, West Liberty; and several grandchildren.

A brother died earlier.
