MUSCATINE, Iowa - Wayne Schaapveld, 74, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 12, 2021, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Nichols, Iowa. There will be a time of food and fellowship at the American Legion, following the graveside. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Wayne was born on February 12, 1947, in Muscatine, the son of Raymond Joseph and Deloris Witte Schaapveld.

Wayne served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam era. He worked for International Harvester and was later a self-employed landscaper. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, and raising and showing horses.

He is survived by his daughter, Katie Schaapveld and significant other, Brian Yakle, of Muscatine; and siblings, Ronald Schaapveld and wife, Michelle, Joseph Schaapveld, Stephen Schaapveld and wife, JoAnn, Diane Strong, Karen Schaapveld, Mary Bartenhagen, and Deborah Ferreira and husband, Diego.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard.
