Funeral services for John Henry Birkhofer, 75, retired farmer, were held Aug. 2 with burial in Greenwood cemetery. Mr. Birkhofer died July 29 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City.

The son of Fred and Mary Arts Birkhofer, he was born July 1, 1890, at Denison. He married Grace Lincoln Sept. 10, 1910, at Muscatine.

He farmed most of his life in the Moscow community. He had served on the Muscatine county A.S.C.S. board 15 years; and was a member of Moose lodge No. 388.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, John Jr., Moscow, and Nevin W., Muscatine; 3 daughters, Mrs. Willard (Dorothy) Smull, Moscow; Mrs. Gerald (Norma) Chambliss, Tipton and Mrs. D. J. (Lois) Coram, Wilton Junction; one brother, Arthur of Moscow; one sister, Mrs. Norman (Ethel) Lake, Moscow; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers preceded him in death.
