Mary Annabelle Engel Shannon, 72, a resident of Muscatine all her life, died at her home, 612 West Seventh street, at 9:25 this morning after an illness with infirmities resulting from advanced age.
Mrs. Shannon was a twin sister of Mrs. Margaret Isabell Engel Mohnsen, 107 East Seventh street, who died last Tuesday.
Mrs. Shannon was born in Muscatine, Jan. 20, 1858, the daughter of Victor and Sarah T. Engel. She was married to Milton Shannon 47 years ago. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church and of the Spangler chapel.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Harry Crain, Iowa City, Mrs. Henry Grandjen, West Liberty, Fred Shannon, Savannah, Ill.; 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals by the Rev. Ira Hawley, pastor of the United Brethren church. Burial will be at Klein cemetery in Moscow township. The body will remain at the Fairbanks home. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
