William Custer, 61, former local resident, died at Mercy hospital at Davenport Tuesday after a lingering illness caused by paralysis, according to word received here.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church here Friday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Mr. Custer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Custer and was born at Illinois City, Ill., Jan. 19, 1868. He married Miss Mary Yochem, April 24, 9101, at Muscatine where they resided until 13 years ago when they went to Davenport, making their home there since.
Mr. Custer was well known here. He was a carpenter by trade. He erected several fine homes in Muscatine before his removal. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Surviving are his widow and one brother, Frank, of Muscatine. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death several years ago.
