Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at West Liberty for Dr. Emmett Ady, 75, who died at Mercy hospital in Iowa City Saturday, following an emergency operation which was performed a week ago.

Dr. Ady was born Dec. 20, 1855, three miles east of West Liberty. He was the son of Dr. Albert and Adelaid Richards Ady.

In the year 1882, Dr. Ady was graduated from the University of Iowa with the degree of M.D. and after taking a short course in the New York hospital he returned to West Liberty and continued to practice throughout his entire life.

On Thanksgiving day, 1886, he married Miss Martha Brown. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive. They are Dr. Albert Ady of West Liberty and Mrs. Janet Malcom of Marengo.

Mrs. Ady and the doctor's mother, Mrs. Adelaide Ady, both died more than a year ago.
