W. D. Platt, 81, Taken by Death

Aged Resident Dies Sunday Morning; Funeral Will Be Held Tuesday Afternoon.

Walter D. Platt, 81, died at his home, 1216 Iowa avenue, at 9:45 Sunday morning after an illness of about two weeks with a complication of ailments.

He was born in Rochester, N. Y. Dec. 17, 1848, the son of Mary and Richard Platt. He married Mary C. Ament in 1876 and she died in 1910. In 1912 he married Mary E. Platt who survives. He was a member of the Christian Science church.

Surviving are the widow, one brother, Charles Platt, Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Case and Mrs. Tillie Goldsmith, both of Chicago; two sons, Harry C. Platt, Oklahoma City, and Fred A. Platt, Muscatine; two daughters, Mrs. Millie Hubbard, Los Angeles, and Mrs. LeMoyne Halberg, Muscatine: six grandchildren, Katherine and William Hubbard, Los Angeles; Harriett Platt, El Paso, Tex., and Junior Robert and Theodore Halberg, Muscatine.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Hoffman Funeral Home at 2:50 Tuesday afternoon by J. W. Zetler of the Science church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
