Final rites for Walter E. Sheetz, 90, will be held at the Lacock Funeral Home, Wilton at 11 a.m. today (April 9) with the Rev. Telford Dindinger officiating. Burial will be in the Melpine cemetery, Sweetland township, near Muscatine. A Masonic service was held April 8.

Mr. Sheetz died at Lutheran Homes, Muscatine, April 6.

The son of John and Catherine Sheetz he was born in Muscatine county Sept. 21, 1895. He married Irene Drescher in Muscatine county Dec. 10, 1919. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the army, a member of the Veterans of World War I, the American Legion, the Masonic lodge at Wilton, the Muscatine County Farm Bureau and the Wilton Presbyterian church.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Shanks, Muscatine; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ellie Bridgeford, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976, 2 sons, 2 brothers and a sister.
