27 March 1913 - West Branch Times

Those who had the privilege of making the acquaintance of Mrs. C. B. Hepler of Ft. Dodge during her visits to her cousins, Fred Chase and wife at this place, will accord to her brilliant intelligence and cheerfulness and helpfulness of spirit; and from the fact that she was born at West Liberty and made her home much of her girlhood life there in the home of her uncle, George Chase, and family and thus became interested in and familiar with events of this part of Iowa, it becomes our duty to make special mention of her in our columns.

She was born June 12, 1850, and received much of her education at West Liberty. As Miss Mary M. Wright she removed to Webster county and at the age of 18 years was united in marriage to A. K. Jenkins with whom she lived five years. On Jan. 10, 1873, her husband was frozen to death in a blizzard not far from Ft. Dodge. In 1874 she was united in marriage to C. B. Hepler. She was the mother of seven children. From the time she went to Ft. Dodge she has been actively associated with the intellectual and social life of the town and county. She has been prominently identified with the Up-to-Date Historical Society, The Ladies' Auxiliary of St. Mark's church, Grace Rebekah Lodge, Women's Relief Corps, and daughters of the American Revolution. She became a leader in all these organizations and was a great historian of her nation, state, county and home town. She was much beloved by a large circle of friends who have with the immediate family mourned their loss.
