Lieut. Egbert T.S. Schenck

Lieut. Egbert T. S. Schenck, a prominent Civil War veteran, is dead at home in Muscatine, aged 90 years and 8 months.

Iowa City and Johnson county veterans, scores of whom were his warm friends during his residence hereabouts, will deeply mourn this brave man's death.

He was a former resident of Downey where he lived many years.

He was a native of Ohio, and was the father of seven children, three of whom survive. His wife passed away in Downey, in 1905.

The children now living are D. P. Schenck, West Liberty; R. C., Muscatine; and James W., Elmhurst, Cal.

Col. Schenck was a special agent of United States Government, after the war; and held other posts of trust.

Col. Schenck was one of a family of American heroes. His father was General William Schenck; and his brothers, General Robert C. Schenck and Admiral James F. Schenck, of Dayton, Ohio.

He was a member of the Grand Army Post of West Liberty.

The funeral was held at Muscatine, and the interment at West Liberty.--Iowa City Press
