8 December 1910 - West Branch Times

The funeral of Mrs. W. C. Haynes was held from the Presbyterian church Monday at 2 p.m. Rev. Geo. Furniss, of Newton, Ia., had charge of the services. Burial was made in Oakridge cemetery.

Fanny Jane Bell was born at Lexington, Ky., March 18, 1849, and came to Iowa with her parents when she was a child of 4 years of age, settling a little east of West Liberty, continuing to reside in the vicinity of West Liberty until Nov. 1, 1887, when she was united in marriage to Wm. C. Haynes, after which her home was in Nebraska and Kansas until 7 years ago, when she removed to West Liberty.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church and had an intense love for the cause of her Savior, though, because of feeble health, she was not privileged to attend church services as much as she would have desired, during the latter years. There was, nevertheless, a faith and truthfulness in the promise of the Divine Father which gave her cheer and assurance amid her afflictions.

As a neighbor she was ever thoughtful and kind; as wife and mother, always faithful and indulgent, as friend, constant and true.

By her sympathies and good deeds she bound to her the affections of all who were intimately acquainted with her, especially those of her own household and immediate family.

Her death occurred at 3:30 o'clock on Nov. 26, 1910, in the 62nd year of her age.

She leaves to mourn her loss, one child, Miss Mary, at home; husband, W. C. Haynes, one brother, Wm. Bell of West Liberty, and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Wilson, of Washington, Ia., and Mrs. Marion Schenck of Downey. -- Index
