NICHOLS, IA - The Arnold Kaalberg home here was damaged about 2:00 a.m. Thursday by fire which apparently started between the walls of the residence. It was necessary to tear the plaster from the downstairs walls in order to get at the blaze.

Flames were discovered by Mr. Kaalberg, who was alone in the house at the time. His wife is visiting in Chicago. He made his way downstairs and sounded the alarm.

The house was not badly damaged by the fire, although rugs and furnishings suffered considerably.
