James Edward Larkin, 66, Creston , formerly of Red Oak are today at 1:30 p.m.. at Larkin Funeral Home in Creston with burial and Masonic rites in Evergreen Cemetery here.

He died Saturday at home following a short illness. Born Aug. 3, 1917 in Cleveland, Mo. to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Larkin, he moved to Red Oak in 1935 where he married Catherine E. Semmens, who survives. He was employed for 47 years with the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, now Burlington Northern Railroad, becoming a locomotive engineer in 1946 and a passenger engineer in 1967 for Amtrak trains.

Other survivors are 10 children, Joan Bradley of Creston, June Nelson of Denver, Colo., Jean Morgan of Atlanta, Ga., Jenny Claycomb of St. Joseph, Mo., Judy Kenny and Joy Pantelis, both of Tempe, Ariz., James Edward of Corning, Jane Lukehart of Chicago, Janette Antisdel of Ankeny, 24 grandchildren, one great grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence and Wilber ( Bill ) of Red Oak, sister, Leila Smith of Red Oak.
