Last Rites Held For Vernon Fisher

Funeral services for Vernon L Fisher were held Monday, April 28, 1969 at 2 p.m. from the Sutphen Funeral Home, Clergyman was Rev Alston B. Hall. John Meyer, Fred Focht, Fred Miller, Erick Nelson, Paul Fisher and Fen Fisher were pall bearers. Mrs. Carolyn Harris, accompanied by Mabel Dunn, presented the selections “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “In The Garden.”

Concluding services were held at the Villisca Cemetery with Graveside military services by the Villisca American Legion. Sutphen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

OBITUARY

Vernon L. Fisher, son of John A and Eva Hixenbaugh Fisher, was born November 2, 1894 in Meadville, Missouri and passed away at Veterans Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on April 25, 1869 at the age of 74 years.

Vernon came to Villisca when still a child and has lived in the Villisca area most of his life, except when he served his country in World War I.

He was united in marriage to Rosetta Amanda Lynes on July 6, 1939, who has since preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Elmer who died at the age of 18 months, and Lee, who died in 1932. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Alma Goodwin of Villisca and by one brother, Arthur also of Villisca. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Vernon was a member of the American Legion Post 251 at Villisca. He will be missed by his family and friends.
