Katherine Wehrle, 68, dies in Wellman

WELLMAN – Katherine Karstens (Hayes) Wehrle, 68, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Nov. 6, 1983 at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, Wellman, with Rev. Leonard Sjogren officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation begins Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home, Wellman. A memorial has been established to the Wellman Senior Citizens Center.

Katherine Hayes Wehrle was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Red Oak, Iowa. On Nov. 27, 1940, she married Milton A. Wehrle at Red Oak. Mr. Wehrle preceded his wife in death in 1971. The Wehrles lived in the Wellman community for the past 32 years.

Mrs. Wehrle taught school in Tiffin, West Chester and Wellman before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and Tri-T.

Survivors include two sons, Robert of Iowa City and John of Larkspur, Calif.; and one sister, Josephine Sin of Fresno, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milton Wehrle, and two brothers.
