Walter Abbas, 59, of Melrose Rt. 1, died Saturday at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

Born Jan. 4, 1918, at Buffalo Center, he was the son of Ed and Alice Buckholt Abbas. Abbas was a farmer and a World War II veteran.

On April 19, 1942, he married Madonna Means at Unionville, Mo. She survives.

Also, surviving are two sons, Gordon of Knoxville, and Donald of Melrose; six grandchildren; one brother, Teus Abbas of Cedar Rapids; and six sisters, Tressie Stadtlander of Meservey, Edna Isebrandt of Titonka, Florence Govern of Minnesota, Fannie Baund of Ohio, Esther Dickmeyer and Annie Leeper, both of Seattle, Wash

The funeral was today at 3:30 p.m. at the Humeston Funeral Home with Rev. Laverne Leigh officiating. Burial was in Oak View Cemetery with military rites by the Albia American Legion Post.
