LARRY SMITH

EDDYVILLE - Larry Jack Smith, 67, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Eddyville, died May 25, 2005, at the Ambassador Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Omaha, Neb.

He was born Jan. 8, 1938 in Coalfield, Iowa to Millard and Marjorie (Norris) Smith. He was raised by Faye and Marion Longcor when his mother died when he was an infant. He married Judy Self Sept. 11, 1993 in Boone. She preceded him in death Feb. 18, 2002.

He attended Eddyville High School. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was an over the road and local truck driver for over 35 years. He was a member of AA and would have attained four years of sobriety in August. He and his wife owned and operated an antique shop in Grand Junction.

Survivors include son, Larry P. Smith stationed in Ohio; two daughters, Carrie of St. James, Mo. and Angela of Clinton; two stepsons, Dan Busick of Russell and Warren Busick of Des Moines; stepdaughter, Shelley McDowell of St. James, Mo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Smith of Davenport and Ronnie Smith of Illinois; and three sisters, Aline of Brownsville, Texas, Harriet of Iowa City and Henrietta Larson of Eddyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two stepsons, Steve and Randy Busick; and brother, James Smith.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lois Williams officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Corners Cemetery, rural Monroe County.

Visitation will begin Saturday at the funeral chapel with the family present from 1-3 p.m.
