Alexander Henry was born in Pennsylvania November 8th, 1851, and died in Colfax July 27, 1916. At about the age of fifteen he came with the family to Mahaska county, Iowa. His first wife was the mother of three sons and eight daughters, of whom five daughters and two sons survive; Mesdames Maggie Shepke, of Doniphan, Mo.; Minnie Shaw, Ella Lyons, Pearl Hamill and Miss Mildred Henry and John Henry, all of Gillespie, Ill., and James A. Henry, of Colfax, at whose home he passed away.
After the death of his first wife, which occurred in January 1906, he married Mrs. Josephine Moore who together with three brothers and two sisters survive him. The brothers are Aaron Henry, of Oskaloosa; Allen Henry, of New Sharon, and Byers Henry, of Beacon, the sister is Mary Henry, of Beacon.
The few months that Mr. Henry has lived with his son here have been months of great suffering. Brief funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. W. L. Brown at the James Henry home Saturday afternoon. The interment was at Albia which was his home for many years.
