MARY GARETTO

Funeral services for Mary Josephine Garetto, 73, of 1325 Sage St., were held Monday, June 23, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Wendel officiating.

A parish rosary was recited June 22, at the Vase Funeral Home. Interment was in the St. Joseph’s Section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jack McGarvey Jr., Louie Muir Jr., Paul Hamm, Alan McGarvey, Dave Tennant Jr. and Gregory Galassi.

Mr. Garetto died June 18, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County shortly after she was admitted.

Mrs. Garetto had been ill for the past three years. She was born at Albia, Iowa, on March 1, 1907, the daughter of the late John and Mary Heyland Crall. She attended school in Albia and in 1923 she was married to Patrick McGarvey at Albia. He preceded her in death in 1944.

She married Alfred Garetto in Rock Springs. She was a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

A Rock Springs resident since 1930, survivors include her husband, Alfred, of Reliance; five daughters, Mrs. Pete (Mary) Galassi of Belmont, Calif., Mrs. Dave (Colleen) Tennant of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. William R. (Evelyn) Davis of Laramie, Mrs. Terry (Peggy) Pivik of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and Mrs. Gov. (Sheila) Hamm of Rock Springs; two sons, Jack McGarvey of Rock Springs and Dr. Thomas McGarvey of Laramie; three sisters, Evelyn Scieszinski, Genevieve Scieszinski and Agnes Smith and one brother, Cecil Crall all of Melrose, Iowa, 42 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patrick, Mrs. Garetto was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Muir, and five sons, Joseph, Bernard, James, Jerry and Patrick
