MRS. THOMAS McCARTY

After two weeks illness Mrs. McCarty passed away Sunday morning, July 16, at the home of her son James McCarty east of Georgetown. She had been in her usual health, was able to be at Divine service three weeks before her death. All that doctors and kind friends could do was done for her to no avail. All her children were with her during her closing hours attending to her every care.

She died as she had lived a true Christian. She lived a long life and was a most respected woman in the community.

Mary Carney was born in Dublin, Ireland, 86 years ago and came to this country at an early age while still a young woman. She came to Monroe County with her husband, making their home near Georgetown where they raised a large family of sons and daughters. She was the mother of ten children, four of whom died in infancy.

She is survived by four sons, Henry, James, Stephen and Frank, all respected citizens of this county and two daughters, Mrs. James Campbell of Bussey and Mrs. Thos. Crane of Albia.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning at St. Patrick's church, Georgetown, with solemn requiem mass celebrated at 10 o'clock. The Pastor Rev. Father Murphy celebrant, Rev. Father Walsh of Albia, deacon. Rev. Father Cullinan of Lovilia, sub-deacon.
