Matt Teasdale Killed in Mine

Fall of Slate in Mine No. 10
at Hiteman Fatal to Albia Man

Matt Teasdale, 46 years of age, was fatally injured in a fall of Slate in Smokey Hollow coal company mine No. 10 at Hiteman Saturday morning, death relieving his intense suffering as he was being brought to the miner's hospital here. His body was badly crushed by the fall and but little hope was held out for him after an examination of his injuries at the mine. The first 18 render temporary treatment and he was rushed to the miner's hospital here, that death came before his arrival, and all efforts to save the life of the enforcement miner were futile.

Mr. Teasdale was born in England, but came to this country many years ago, and for several years has been a highly respected citizen of this community. He leaves his widow and several children, most of whom are grown.

The body was taken to Downs undertaking parlors where it was prepared for burial, and funeral services are being held this afternoon from the United Presbyterian Church, with interment in Oakview.
