death place?

POTTS NEE COZAD

I am trying to find out information about the death of Lydia Catherine (nee Cozad) Potts, the wife of James Franklin Potts. She is buried in the Jordan Twp Cemetery. The transcription gives her death date as 1887, but it was "around" 1897. Based on the findagrave photo, the part of the headstone showing the death date is buried. I believe she died in November 1897. Possibly November 25. It was only recently that I learned she was alive and in Monona County for the 1895 Iowa State Census.

I have a letter, written 70 years after the fact, saying that she was getting off a train, the train lurched, she hit her head and never woke up, leaving behind several small children. Her husband returned to his hometown of St. Marys, OH shortly after her death, and remarried. I am curious to know her death date and place, and Lydia's death has been one of my genealogical hurdles for a long time.

She was born in Page County, Iowa. Her father was Hezekiah Cozad and her mother was Sarah Dukeshier/Dukeshire/Duckshier .

Any assistance you can provide would be most welcome.

Thanks!!
